What does a journal subscription include?
Most subscriptions, whichever format, print or online, are for the calendar year from January–December. This is also sometimes referred to as the 'volume year' or shown as ‘period’ beside your orders on the payment site. Below provides details of what is included in a subscription based on the customer type:
Personal subscriptions
Personal subscribers may purchase a maximum of 4 subscriptions per year, they are strictly for personal, non-commercial, use only. The reselling of personal subscriptions is prohibited. Proof of personal use may be required, and subscriptions must be purchased with a credit/debit card, or a personal check.
A personal subscription includes content published in the year of purchase.
If there is no pricing available on the Individuals tab, please contact [email protected] with the subject Individual Price Request, quoting the name of the journal in the body of the email.
Institutional subscriptions
Institutional subscription rates are available for educational institutions, government organizations, non-profit groups, and hospitals. These subscriptions include perpetual access to online content published in the year of purchase and access to archive content from the subscribed title to 1997, during your subscription year (where applicable).
If you would like to subscribe via your subscription agent
Please contact our agents team to help with subscription queries.
Print subscriptions
If you purchase a print subscription for the current year, this will include any issues we've already published since January, plus those remaining for the year. Please allow 6 weeks for the delivery of printed issues.
NB. If you purchase a print subscription for next year, you won't receive anything until content for the new year is published.
Online subscriptions
A current-year online subscription will include access to all issues for the current calendar year. It may also include back access to articles published in previous years, depending on the journal and subscription type. Should you require further information about what access is included in a subscription please contact [email protected].
If you purchase an online subscription in advance (i.e. for next year), you will not have online access until January. At that point, current-year policies will take effect.
If I cancel my subscription, will I receive a refund?
No refunds will be given after the first issue of the journal for the year has been despatched for print subscriptions and after the 28th February (current year) for online-only subscriptions.
